Successful Visit of Dr. Hagay Amir to Providence, Rhode Island
Providence, RI — The Rhode Island-Israel Collaborative (RIIC), in collaboration with the Consulate General of Israel to New England, was honored to host Dr. Hagay Amir, CEO and Director of the
Loewenstein Hospital Rehabilitation Medical Center in Israel, during his visit to Providence on September 17, 2025.

Throughout the day, Dr. Amir met with academic, medical, and community leaders, including representatives from the Brown University Medical School and Rhode Island Hospital, as well as the editor of the Jewish Herald. These meetings established promising connections and opened discussions for joint research, medical student and faculty exchanges, and future visits to Loewenstein Hospital in Israel.
The visit concluded with a moving community program at Temple Emanu-El, where Dr. Amir spoke on “From Horror to Healing: Stories of Resilience.” He shared personal accounts of recovery and strength following the tragic events of October 7th, offering a unique perspective on the challenges and triumphs of rehabilitation in times of crisis.
Avi Nevel, President and Founder of the Rhode Island-Israel Collaborative and CEO, said:
"This was a very productive day where we were able to conduct meetings with leaders in the world of medical research and rehabilitation and connect them with Israeli Dr. Hagay Amir. We hope that this will lead to future collaboration between Rhode Island medical and academic institutions and the hospital in Israel."
This successful visit marks the beginning of meaningful partnerships between Rhode Island institutions and Loewenstein Hospital, with the potential to advance medical knowledge, education, and community resilience.
